Delete your account in the app

The quickest way to delete your Aurnet account is from within the app. You stay in control and it happens immediately:

  • 1. Open the Aurnet app and sign in.
  • 2. Go to the More tab, then Settings.
  • 3. Tap Legal & Privacy.
  • 4. Under Danger Zone, tap Delete Account and confirm. Your account and personal data are permanently removed.

What gets deleted

Deleting your account permanently and irreversibly erases the personal data associated with you, including:

  • Your profile and account details (name, email, phone, profile photo)
  • Your chat messages, reactions and poll votes
  • Your Bible plan progress and notes, sermon notes, prayer requests and testimonies
  • Your church, cluster and department memberships
  • Your notifications, saved devices and push-notification tokens
  • Your stored consents and any pending join requests

What we're legally required to keep

A small amount of financial record-keeping data is retained in anonymised form — disconnected from your identity — because UK tax law (HMRC) requires charitable-giving and Gift Aid records to be kept for up to six years. This includes donation receipts and event-ticket orders. These records no longer identify you: your name is removed and replaced with “Former member” and your contact details are cleared.

Delete only some of your data

You don't have to delete your whole account to remove data. Without closing your account you can:

  • Delete individual items you've created — messages, notes, prayer requests — directly in the app
  • Withdraw specific consents under Settings → Legal & Privacy
  • Export a copy of your data from Settings → Legal & Privacy (Export My Data)
  • Email us to request erasure or correction of specific personal data (see below)

If you can't access the app

If you're unable to sign in, email us from the address registered to your Aurnet account and we'll handle your deletion or data request. Write to support@aurnet.co.uk (or privacy@aurnet.co.uk). We verify your identity and action verified requests within 30 days, in line with UK GDPR.

Timeline

Account deletion from within the app is immediate and cannot be undone. Any residual copies in encrypted backups are purged within 30 days. Anonymised financial records are retained only for the legally required period and then deleted.
