1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing and using Aurnet (the 'Service'), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Service. We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time with 30 days' notice.

2. Description of Service

Aurnet is a church engagement platform providing tools for communication and notifications, events, rotas, sermons and media, meetings and video rooms, training, bible plans, giving, and SMS and email messaging. Access is provided on a subscription basis to authorised church administrators and members.

3. Account Registration and Security

You agree to provide accurate and complete information during registration, including your name, email address, and optionally your phone number. You should be at least 13 years old to hold an Aurnet account; churches are responsible for managing who they invite and for any parental or guardian consent required for younger members. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities under your account. Email changes require password confirmation and verification of the new address before they take effect; your current email remains active until the new address is verified.

4. Roles and Data Protection

For data about church members, your church is the data controller and Aurnet acts as a data processor, processing that data on the church's documented instructions under a Data Processing Agreement. Aurnet is the controller for account, billing, security and marketing-website data. Church administrators must not misuse member data, must comply with UK and EU data protection law, and must obtain any consent required before adding members or sending communications. Administrators are responsible for member privacy and for their church's safeguarding obligations. See our Privacy Policy and Data Processing Agreement for details.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use Aurnet in any way that violates these Terms or our Acceptable Use Policy. Prohibited conduct includes:

  • Posting content that is illegal, harassing, defamatory, abusive, or violates intellectual property rights
  • Harassment, bullying, or discrimination based on protected characteristics
  • Posting obscene, sexually explicit, or otherwise inappropriate content
  • Attempting unauthorized access to accounts, servers, or administrative functionality
  • Reverse engineering, decompiling, or attempting to discover source code or algorithms
  • Using bots, scrapers, or automated tools to access or extract data without permission
  • Attempting to circumvent security measures or access control systems
  • Uploading malware, viruses, or files intended to cause harm

6. Communications and Notifications

By using Aurnet you may receive communications through the Service:

  • Transactional messages: Account, security, and service messages (such as email-change and password notifications) are required to operate the Service securely and cannot be opted out of while you hold an account.
  • Push notifications: You may receive push notifications, which can display your church's logo and a sender's name and photo. You can disable them in your device settings or in-app notification preferences.
  • SMS: Where your church enables SMS, messages are sent using the church's own messaging provider account; the church controls those messages and you may opt out of them.
  • Marketing email: We only send marketing or newsletter emails where you have opted in, and every such email includes an unsubscribe link.

7. User Content

You retain ownership of content you post on Aurnet. By posting, you grant Aurnet a limited, non-exclusive licence to store, display, and process your content for the purposes of delivering the Service. You are responsible for ensuring your content does not infringe third-party intellectual property rights and complies with all applicable laws.

8. Giving and Donations

Aurnet facilitates donations but is not party to giving transactions. The church retains all responsibility for receiving and managing donations. Payment card details are processed by Stripe (PCI-DSS compliant). Church administrators provide bank details for payouts, which are managed by the church, not Aurnet. Giving and Gift Aid records are retained for the period required by HM Revenue & Customs. Aurnet's role is limited to technical facilitation. Fees. Aurnet charges the church a platform fee of 2.5% of each donation. This platform fee is separate from card-processing fees charged by Stripe (for example, approximately 1.5% + 20p for a standard UK card; rates vary by card type and country). Where a donor chooses to cover the processing fee at the time of giving, the donor pays it in addition to their gift; where the donor does not, it is deducted from the gift before payout to the church. Aurnet's platform fee is always 2.5% and is never more. Both fees are shown before a donation is completed. Aurnet may vary the platform fee on reasonable notice.

9. Data Protection Rights

You have rights under GDPR and UK data protection law. You may delete your account at any time, export your data (Export My Data), and withdraw consent for data processing. You will continue to receive transactional emails required for the secure operation of the Service. See our Privacy Policy for full details of your rights and how to exercise them.

10. Intellectual Property

Aurnet and all its features, design, and functionality are owned by Aurnet Limited and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Aurnet for authorised purposes only. You may not modify, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without permission.

11. Service Availability

Aurnet is provided on an 'as is' basis. While we aim to maintain reliable service, we do not guarantee uninterrupted uptime or availability. We may suspend, modify, or discontinue features with reasonable notice. Scheduled maintenance may temporarily affect service.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Aurnet Limited is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Service. This includes lost profits, data loss, or business interruption. Our total liability is limited to fees paid in the current subscription period. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death, personal injury, fraud, or as prohibited by law.

13. Termination

You may delete your account and terminate your use at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or engage in prohibited conduct. Upon termination, your personal data is deleted per our Privacy Policy unless legal retention obligations apply.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of England and Wales. However, if you are a consumer in the EU or EEA, you retain the right to bring proceedings in your local jurisdiction.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms periodically. We will notify you of material changes before they take effect. Your continued use of Aurnet after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
